Question 2

What is considered an elite three-point percentage in the NBA?

Accepted Answer

The NBA league average three-point percentage is typically around 35–37%. Shooting 40% from three on meaningful volume (4+ attempts per game) is considered excellent. Shooting 43%+ on 5+ attempts per game is elite — achieved by players like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kyle Korver in their best seasons. Players who attempt fewer than 2–3 threes per game may appear at high percentages but represent small, unreliable samples.

Question 3

How is three-point percentage used in NBA prop research?

Accepted Answer

Three-point percentage informs confidence in three-pointers-made props. An efficient shooter (40%+) on high volume (5+ attempts) provides a reliable floor for made three-pointer props. For matchup research, 3P% tends to drop against defensive teams with strong perimeter closeouts. Use this leaderboard to identify elite shooters, then check their upcoming opponent's defensive three-point rate and their L5/L10 hit rate on the Statz hit rates page.

Question 4

Who holds the NBA single-season three-point percentage record?

Accepted Answer

Kyle Korver holds the single-season three-point percentage record at 53.6% on 4.0 attempts per game in 2009-10. Among high-volume shooters (6+ attempts per game), Steph Curry has posted the highest percentages — including 45.4% on 9.6 attempts per game in 2015-16. Three-point percentage leaders are strong targets for three-pointers-made props, particularly in up-tempo, high-shot-volume matchups.
