Question 2

When is a Pts+Ast prop better value than individual stats?

Accepted Answer

Pts+Ast props offer better value when: (1) the line is near the player's natural combined average, (2) one category (e.g. assists) has a reliable floor even on cold shooting nights, or (3) the market has not adjusted to a player's expanded offensive role. Pts+Ast is most reliable for high-usage point guards whose assists volume stays consistent regardless of shooting performance — a cold-shooting point guard often generates more assists to compensate.

Question 3

How does team pace affect Pts+Ast combined props?

Accepted Answer

Pace is the primary driver of both points and assists totals for ball-dominant players. Faster games (100+ possessions) create more scoring and playmaking opportunities per 48 minutes. For Pts+Ast props in high-paced matchups, look for cases where the combined line has not been adjusted upward despite the pace advantage — particularly when both teams play at an elevated tempo. Check the Statz player page for pace-adjusted game logs.

Question 4

What role does assist rate play in Pts+Ast prop research?

Accepted Answer

Assist rate (AST%) measures what percentage of a player's team's made baskets they assisted while on the floor. Players with 30%+ AST% generate assists on nearly one in three team buckets — producing 8–12 APG in a full game. For Pts+Ast props, a player with a high and stable AST% paired with their scoring average gives a reliable combined floor. Track AST% trends via game logs on their Statz player page.
