NBA Field Goals Attempted Leaders 2024-25

Field goals attempted per game measures shot volume — how many times a player pulls the trigger each game. FGA leaders are almost always the primary offensive option on their team with usage rates above 30%. High shot volume is a prerequisite for high scoring, but FGA must be interpreted alongside FG% to understand efficiency. A player taking 20+ attempts at 40% is less valuable than one taking 17 attempts at 52%. FGA leaders include both efficient volume scorers and players taking on heavy but inefficient shot diets.

FGA informs points prop research by establishing a player's shot floor. A player who averages 18+ FGA per game will almost always attempt enough shots to hit their points line assuming average accuracy. FGA volume is also the most stable component of scoring — a player's shot attempts fluctuate less than their make rate. When a player has an unusually low FGA game (due to foul trouble or poor shot creation), it's often a signal that their points prop is at risk of missing.
