Question 1

Who leads the NBA in assists in 2025-26?

Accepted Answer

The current NBA assists per game leader for 2025-26 is shown at rank #1 in the leaderboard above. The full rankings are updated daily after every completed game. Click any player\'s name to view their Statz profile — game logs, prop hit rates and active streaks are all available.

Question 2

What counts as an assist in the NBA?

Accepted Answer

An assist is credited when a player makes a direct pass that leads to a made field goal by a teammate. The passer must be the primary contributor to the score — a significant dribble or change of possession by the scorer after receiving the pass disqualifies the credit. Secondary assists are not counted in official NBA stats, though advanced tracking systems record them.

Question 3

How do assists stats inform NBA prop betting?

Accepted Answer

High-assist players with stable roles are among the most reliable prop targets because their output is system-driven rather than shooting-variance dependent. For assists props, check: (1) the player's team pace (faster pace = more assist opportunities), (2) the upcoming opponent's defensive tendency, (3) their L5/L10 hit rate on Statz. True point guards averaging 10+ APG rarely have dramatic assist swings between games.

Question 4

Who holds the NBA single-season assists record?

Accepted Answer

John Stockton holds the all-time single-season assists record with 14.5 APG in the 1989-90 season and also the career assists record. In the modern era, Rajon Rondo averaged 11.7 APG in 2011-12. Current-era leaders include Trae Young, Tyrese Haliburton and Nikola Jokic — uniquely the only centre to consistently challenge for the assists title.
